Ghostbusters: Afterlife(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

No bones about it, I am a huge Ghostbuster fan. Younger me had the toys, the cereal, and I was an avid fan of the animated series. It seems like a long wait for the long delayed third Ghostbusters movie. When it was announced it was finally going to be a reality, I was curious how it would be handled due to the fact that Harold Ramis has passed away, who had portrayed Egon Spencer. The answer turns out to be with lots of heart.

The movie follows after decades after the New York incident with a family discovering the legacy they been left behind as well as preventing the apocalypse from happening once again. Essentially this is the passing of the torch to a new set of Ghostbusters with many many callbacks to the other two films. There are tons of easter eggs, and they even included the score from the very first film.

This film is as exciting and fun as you would expect from a Ghostbusters film. And as teased in the trailers, yes the original Ghostbusters do appear with one creative twist. They left out Slimer, but his replacement known as Muncher is just as endearing. Even though the movie rehashed the plot of the first movie, you will forgive that because we finally have a sequel that we been waiting for. You will want to bring tissues when watching because the ending will have you sobbing like a baby. Afterwards there are two credit scenes, one that teases that the Ghostbusters series could see more movies.

I couldn’t be more pleased with how this movie turned out. It was everything I expected, and more. The new blood was fun to watch, and it was great seeing the trusty Ecto-1 in action again. I can’t say this enough, if you love Ghostbusters as much as I do, you need to see this film. Even ones new to the series can enjoy this, though it helps if they see the Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II first. It is currently out in theaters if you want to check it out. Till next time, stay scared!
