Ginger Snaps(Review)(Full Moon Rising #2)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Ginger Snaps in a werewolf tale bathed in teen sexuality and feminine qualities. It was something not expected, and in my opinion one of the better werewolf films out there.

Two sisters Brigette and Ginger are obsessed with death, and during one of their nightly excursions, Ginger is attacked by a large beast as a result of getting her period. Her wounds heal, but she experiences unnatural changes, and the sisterhood faces their greatest challenge yet

Bad enough the changes one experience when going through puberty, but it becomes worse when it involves becoming a werewolf. What was once a strong sisterly bond becomes frayed as Ginger distances herself from Brigette and starts experimenting with drugs and sex. What I thought was neat is when you see subtle changes in Ginger as she becomes more wolfen.

This movie does not mess around when it comes to the gore. The attack on Ginger in the beginning scenes is very harrowing and brutal, and after the attack, we are treated to a nice blood splatter as the thing that attacked her suffers an unfortunate accident. The movie keeps up with a raw atmosphere, and shows in the end the result of the power of sisterhood. The werewolf transformation in this movie is body horror at its finest. Due to the success of the first movie, it ended up getting a couple of sequels, which they weren’t bad, but was no comparison.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it. It is currently streaming on Shudder and Tubi. If you already seen Ginger Snaps, feel free to leave your thoughts below!

Till next time, stay scared!
