Escape Room(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Escape rooms are pretty popular destinations featuring puzzles you have to solve in order to escape. So it stands to reason, they would make a horror movie based on them.

The plot is about six strangers chosen as participants in what is called the Minos Rooms with winners earning prize of $10,000 if they are able to solve the puzzles and survive to the end. They find out the consequences of not solving the puzzles are a matter of life and death. The different puzzles they have to solve are pretty creative even though the deaths themselves are pretty inconsequential. Eventually it is revealed the strangers were chosen for a specific reason. It all leads to an ending that sets the stage for the upcoming sequel.

This is a pretty fun movie especially when they get started with the puzzles. I enjoyed the upside down bar scene, and the one where the contestants are dosed with hallucinogenic poison, and you get to experience the effects along with them. In a way, this movie reminded me of a very toned down Saw, especially when it seemed the various contestants were being taught to pay for their sins due to their dark pasts. Till next time, stay scared!
