Alien Invasion films have been around for decades and typically follow a tried-and-true formula. So it’s always a breath of fresh air when we get an offering that’s a bit different. Safe to say, there’s plenty of freshness waiting for you in the new film ‘No One Will Save You’.
Our story entirely revolves around Brynn. She’s a complete loner who lives in a beautiful house in the woods. She keeps herself busy with fashion design and miniature buildings by day, and a crushing grievance at night. She enters town at points to get supplies and is constantly gawked at and whispered about. But one night, strange things begin to happen while she sleeps and she wakes up having to fight for her life.
The aliens are fully revealed about 15 minutes into the film and they are different. They’re still Grey’s, technically, but as the film plays out we see different forms, shapes, and cores emerge. While she fights back to avoid whatever plan they may have in store for her, she continues to cling onto a memory of a long lost friend named Maude who she can’t seem to make peace with – which does serve an important element into her overall psychology.
The sense of isolation and dread get pushed to heightened levels by the fact that this film almost entirely revolves around a single character who only speaks one sentence the entire time. It’s filled to the brim with beautiful cinematography, action, and suspense. It all accumulates in an ending that you most likely won’t see coming and it can tug at your heart strings.
All in all it’s an interesting and well done piece that feels completely welcome with all the standout films we’ve received this year already. It’s absolutely worth a watch and it breezes by by keeping you engaged with a visual story, suggestive set ups, and an interesting take on a creature we all know and love.
