In A Strangers House(Review)

The advantage of found footage is it gives horror directors a way to elicit fear with only a small budget. Que In A Strangers House which is sufficient in developing levels of terror the more it goes on.

The plot see unexplained footage of a man hired as a house sitter who experiences paranormal activity while staying within the house.

So the movie is very unassuming but we find ourselves relating to the guy and the supernatural experiences he is having. The movie doesn’t come and say what is happening but gives you enough clues for people to figure it out on their own. Its when the dolls start moving on their own when the movie escalates the level of terror.

It does that with the use of sound design. Every creak and moan will be heard quickly making a scene intense. In this film, it’s not what you see, it’s what you hear, and oh yeah there are a few chilling moments. It got very unnerving. In a way, it reminded me of a creepypasta just the way the movie was being presented to us.

It’s the ending that is a bit of weak point. It makes sense but it deflates the fear the movie was going for.
I did enjoy this one, it went a direction I did not expect. I would suggest if you really want to immerse yourself watch this in the dark while wearing headphones. There’s a scene that reminds me of the dollhouse level in Resident Evil Village where you are running from the giant fetus except all you hear is the baby crying you never see it. Though I kept expecting a fetus monster to show up.

If you want to experience this one for yourself which you should, it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi.
