Taking us back to the beginning of an invasion was a necessary evil in showing a different perspective of what is was like to survive that. What if a person was already on the brink of death? How would they react when the world they knew was ending?
The story is about a woman who is terminally ill. She has given up on joy of life and then finds herself at ground zero of an invasion of creatures. She and some fellow survivors must navigate to safety surrounded by hostile threats.
We learn just how fast it took for the creatures to decimate an entire city. There are attempts to rescue everyone but the creatures literally stampede and quickly end those efforts. There are intense scenes where you find yourself holding your breath hoping no one makes noise to attract attention.
This movie shows just how deadly of a threat the creatures have become. We learn they came from space but not sure of where they originated from exactly or what brought them to Earth.
As the survivors try to reach safety, which there’s only one weakness the creatures have, once they find it, it ends with the woman knowing her mission was accomplished deciding to give the middle finger to the world and going out on her own terms.
The Quiet Place franchise is unique with the lack of sound playing a factor and the ways you utilize that to great effect. This entry is no different. I like we got another perspective, and it takes us fully back to the very first day the invasion happened. There was very intense moments. It felt it was very well done, and it was on my top 10 list.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you can catch it streaming on Amazon Prime and MGM+.
