Gruesome Gazette

Infested(2023)(Review)

What kind of sick universe are we living in that sees not just one but two spider creep fests within a manner of 30 days. First came Stung, then this creepy crawl fest comes out called Infested. Now, I’ll go on record on saying I love spiders and definitely not scared of them but even this movie made my skin crawl. Arachnophobes beware this film is not going to be a good time.

The plot sees a young thug named Kaleb who has an exotic zoo so one day he buys a spider to add to his collection. The spider escapes and he and his fellow tenants to have figure out what to do with a sudden infestation of spiders.

Yeah I am not exaggerating. Infestation of spiders. Huge amounts of them everywhere. I dunno this is some kind of super spider that can reproduce very very quickly. And they keep on coming from everywhere. They can look big but then be a horde of mini spiders. The suckers are very very fast too. They skitter about especially on people. Oh yeah if they bite you it’s pretty much hallucinogenic instadeath.

Yeah I mention they come from everywhere. Remember that scene in The Mist in the supermarket? That should give you an idea of what to expect to see from this film. Oh there is this long sequence of where our survivors have to traverse a hall full of nothing but webs and spiders. And it becomes a race for the clock because the light is only thing keeping spiders at bay but light is on a timer. And then only having small flame or flashlight to help. The spiders crawling everywhere the eye can see. Yeah that scene was enough to get me to be like hell no.

The ending leads to a showdown between our characters and the cops who initiated a lock down and already taking care of the Spider problem. The spiders quickly overtake the cops, I mean they straight up annihilate these fools. Meanwhile the survivors are trying to figure out a way to escape. But on top of everything there’s a problem with the spiders becoming larger and larger. Yeah it just ended. Some people lived, not so sure if spider problem got resolved, I’m sure some survived cuz they were so hard to kill because how fast they were filling their ranks. I don’t know if I liked the ending it just was like deflating a balloon.

I really enjoyed the movie, hey I will eat movies like this like candy. I mean spider horror movies are fun, and hey if it can creep me out a few times then yeah I know it’s legit scary. If you dare to take the spider challenge, then venture on over to Shudder.

If you already braved Infested(2023), what did you think of it? How long did you feel your skin crawl and how often are you checking yourself to make sure that is just your hair tickling you not a spider crawling on you? Tell us about your experience with it in the comments below!!

Till next time, stay scared!
