Exorcism films are an oversaturated sub-genre, and while there are ones who introduced new ideas, it usually ends up having same conclusion. Here’s one known as Prey For The Devil.
The story in this one is about a nun who even though she is forbidden is learning the rite of exorcism. She is then flung into battle for a child’s soul against a particular demon targeting the nun.
So that’s the different idea in this one where a demon is hellbent in possessing a warrior of God. While it can manifest in other way it uses a child to get to the nun in it’s attempts to break her spirit.
There’s a dark past involved. And as it turns out there is a personal connection between the nun and the child. I called it right away.
Sometimes demons can be persistent, and the attempts to exercise it end up not working. The nun finally does what is necessary but even that isn’t enough to get rid of the demon once and for all.
Some creepy moments, some tropes, mostly this film was good. It’s not much to make it stand against some of the better films out there. It just ends up being an average possession film. If you want to check it out, it’s currently streaming on Peacock.
