Red Christmas(Happy Horrordays #12)(Review)

The sins of your past can come back to haunt you. Or in the case of Red Christmas, come back and attempt to murder your whole family.

The plot is about a widow trying to spend one last Christmas with her family in peace when a cloaked figure comes to visit. She then has to defend her family from him as well as protect a secret she thought was long buried.

There is a lot of religious overtones in the movie, but despite that, once the killing get started, and boy does it, things get interesting fast. Dee Wallace has a main role as the family matriarch and does well with it. You also can sympathize with the killer especially when it is revealed his reason for being there in the first place. The ending is brutal as can be, putting the red in Red Christmas.

If you want a Christmas movie with a dark theme, this is worth checking out. It checks all the boxes with gore a plenty and the makeup design of the killer is stuff of nightmares.
