Silent Night, Deadly Night(Review)[Twisted Throwback Thursday]

We just looked at Silent Night, Deadly Night 5, so let’s go back to the one that started the whole franchise, Silent Night, Deadly Night.

The movie is about a boy named Billy who witnesses his parents being murdered by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Now as a young adult, he is still affected by the traumatizing events, and eventually snaps, murdering people while dressed in a Santa suit.

This is your standard slasher film, just with a Christmas theme. Scream queen Linnea Quigley is featured in one of the best kills in the movie. We also get an idea where the whole “PUNISH” line comes from. This one plays more serious than the films that follow it. It even received a loose remake called Silent Night which actually improved on the ideas introduced in the original.

So if you are searching for a Christmas slasher film, this one should at least satisfy you.
