The soundtrack for The Haunting is like a carnival ride, as it starts out cheery and fun before it drops you into the dark and foreboding parts. The darker tracks elicit mood of spectral figures reaching out to you, while the brighter tracks bring to mind of playfulness. Maybe to match the tone of the movie as it is about house that is a portal to purgatory for kids more or less. A creepy score nevertheless that horror lovers should enjoy, and it helped made the movie scarier, which helped make it a popular flick at the time of its release.
