The McPherson Tapes AKA UFO Abduction(Review)

Did you know before The Blair Witch Project, there was a found footage film that existed before that. The McPherson Tape AKA UFO Abduction is known as the very first found footage horror and it’s rather lackluster to say the least.

The story focuses on a family having a birthday party when they notice bright lights in the sky. They go to investigate and soon it becomes a night of survival from an alien invasion.

Okay yeah this was one was hard to malke it through with how boring it was. Mostly you are watching the family who are bickering amongst each other. Not much of anything happens until they make the dumb move of making the family even more of a target.

This was a very low budget film, and the effects are minimal. The film does well with the realism aspect showing the fear the family has during the events. And just when they let their guard down, they aren’t as safe as they think.

Clocking in just about an hour, this one may just end up being a blip in the radar. It does show just where found footage got its humble beginnings. If you want to check it out on your own, it’s currently streaming on Tubi.

Till next time, stay scared!
