The Sect(Review) - Gruesome Gazette

Here’s a rare one I didn’t know existed coming from the team of Michele Soavi and Dario Argento. The Devil’s Daughter or otherwise known as The Sect.

The plot sees a schoolteacher who becomes a target of a satanic sect whose goal is to see the birth of the Devil.
The movie is pretty meh for the most part. There are some pretty cool scenes, for example one that plays out like something out of Hellraiser with a woman getting her face torn off. Mostly you will be there waiting for something to happen.

Special recognition should be given to the woman’s costar which is an adorable white rabbit just hopping around. There’s a scene where it watches TV, using its paw to switch channels that was cute. It’s possible the rabbit is possessed? I’m not sure but definitely made the movie slightly more interesting.

Even when it comes to the ending..it gets weird but it’s similar to Rosemary’s Baby. I would definitely say out of all the films that came out of the pairing of Soavi and Argento. this one is the weakest. I was relatively unimpressed by it.
